Not philosophically, in fact the source of much philosophical debate.
In reality, they are in fact, in the sense that fighting the shadow
can only happen when there is light present. Totally interdependent.
True at every level of reality yet discovered , from Newtonian to
Quantum. From Biblical (accurate interpretations) to biological.
I suspect the 'judgment book' is written in DNA code....
THis is the deep source of frustration from people who see a paradox
in 'fighting the good fight' inplaces like Iraq.

first start with 'perfect opposites' then fill in the blanks from there.
Yes/no, right/wrong, good/evil, up/down, 0/1. true/false
To me, the thinking in opposites not the opposites themselves are more
interesting, as in, "why"?

re: exact opposites: good, evil ?
Yeah and nay
It depends upon the definitions utilized, and the "constrction of the
narrative context"
In the religious meaning, yes. the obvious derivations are "god" and
"devil," anglo-saxon(?), perhaps are both from middle Germanic lingo
forn "gut" and....uh..... i dunno about satan
church lady>?
perhaps look-up "devil" and "evil" in a college dictionary to find the
origin
In a "secular sense," which tries to seemingly strain-out the
original religious culture (theological?), the opposite of "good" is
"bad"
In religious and/or non-religious ethics, "goodness" & "badness"
in the proper grammatical Harbrace Handbook sense....ah, who cares

Would bad not be more the opposite of good?
Evil is an odd word associated with women tempting men away from stable
relationships in order to have sex with them - or luring men away from God
with sins of the flesh and things like humans trying to have power by the
use of "magic" and this kind of thing.
If you have a child who is good and well behaved and other who is very
naughty. The naughty child may be considered bad - but never evil.
You can be good or you can be bad - but if you are bad it does not
necessarily make you evil.

Women are often considered evil and are sometimes known as The Devil.
Luring and tempting and seducing males away from happy loving relationships
with their charms in order to have sex with them.
There is no sisterhood of women in the same way there is a brotherhood of
man.
Woman have no honourable code of conduct with other women in the way that
men do with other men.
As women first tempted man with the apple - thus they are often viewed as
evil - tempting men away from duty as indeed was the case with Clinton.
In Universal terms - any Guardians or Warriors have to be beyond the
temptation of woman.
In other words - duty - honour - loyalty come first - and they would
completely be able to resist the seducing tempting of woman.
Angels - Guardians - Warriors - and these kind of peoples - are positioned
in all parts of spiritual space - where the Light of Truth shines constantly
and no women could possibly tempt the Guardian of the Light of Truth. And
no man would ever try.
