My sister sent me _Nalpalm and Silly Putty_ 4 years ago but I didn't
start reading it until 2 weeks ago.
(I do this with clothes too. I got a sweatshirt in the early '70s and
only started wearing it last fall. I dragged that sweatshirt 3000
miles through 4 federal judicial circuits never putting it on even
once. It's now my favorite cool weather shirt.)
I wish Carlin had pursued a healthier lifestyle and did something
better than just being a comedian.
Comedians were always my heros as far as entertainers were concerned
but Carlin's insights were worth more than just a laugh.
As Nietzsche said about Emerson, "we have lost a philosopher."
