If you believe that, then are you saying we are born into slavery?

Only if we don't pay our taxes, taxes being the price of freedom.
Why Milton Friedman ever thought there was a free lunch on liberty is
beyond me.

No. I had nothing to do with that bumper sticker.

Are you sure? This truck had also had an NRA sticker, gun rack, and a
vanity plate (Virgina) that read: "JACK".

This crap is unAmerican or violates Americanism which states that
'liberty', which is quite different than the babble-speak 'freedom',
liberty is given to each by 'nature and nature's god'. So, Freedom is in
fact free as birth is free.
the bumper sticker implies that only government or to be soppy only the
military can provide freedom. So ... taxes.

The bumper sticker is correct on its face.
The problem is that it is often misinterpreted.
Many have been led to believe that freedom only comes out of a barrel
of a gun and that the most important or only cost to pay for freedom
is stacking up the bodies of your own countrymen.
That interpretation, constantly promoted by Hollywood (Saving Private
Ryan) and the jingoistic corp. media (The Greatest Generation), is
just plain ignorant and has absolutely nothing to do with what made
America great in the first place.

Freedom, a human construct, increases with taxation.
