if you are female
and you do not know of any female mathematicians
or think their contributions
always of lesser caliber
then you have been denied an important part of history

there have been many foundations
built with important contributions from women
throughout history

philosophers of relations and symbolics
algebraicists
topologists

if you've ever read "A=B"
you'll find amazing theorems in computational automation
and series summation

the foundation of modern theoretical physics
that conserved charges are generated by symmetries
was only one of amelie noether's many contributions

I don't understand the need to appreciate one persons (or genders)
accomplishments by belittling another's. Putting aside the issues of
comparative greatness, I would postulate that these most peoples
genitalia played very little role in their accomplishments. Those few
people whose lives have reached the level to publically be acclaimed
as great did so through hard work, discipline, dedication, courage,
etc ... If I were to encourage someone towards greatness (not matter
what their gender), I would emphasize those qualities not their
plumbing.

Male supremacists and sexist bigots have been putting
women down for ages, so don't act so high and mighty.
