A theory of Einstein the irrational plagiarist
Christopher Jon Bjerknes – The Canberra Times September 19, 2006

The name "Einstein" evokes images of a good-humoured genius, who
revolutionised our concepts of space, time, energy, mass and motion.
Time named Albert Einstein "person of the century". The language
itself has incorporated "Einstein" into our common vocabulary as a
synonym for extraordinary brilliance. Many consider Einstein to have
been the finest mind in recorded human history.

That is the popular image, fostered by textbooks, the media, and hero
worshiping physicists and historians. However, when one reads the
scientific literature written by Einstein's contemporaries, a quite
different picture emerges: one of an irrational plagiarist, who
manipulated credit for their work.

Einstein is perhaps most famous for the special theory of relativity,
published in 1905 in the German physics journal, Annalen der Physik.
The paper was devoid of references, a fact that Einstein's friend and
Nobel prize winner for physics, Max Born, found troubling.

He earned the Nobel Prize for his work on the Photoelectric Effect, not
Special Relativity. His work on Special Relativity was similar to
others' work, but with a major change in perspective, most notably that
time was not a constant in all frames of reference, unlike Lorentz, who
did not understand the full implications of his work.

Then there is General Relativity. General Relativity is to Special
Relativity as addition is to calculus. Anyone who tries to pass off
Einstein's development of general relativity as plagerized work is simply
a fool.

So we are left with Einstein making a fundamental or *the* fundamental
breakthrough in both fields of physics, Quantum Theory and General
Relativity.

Two Einstein quotes:

"My awareness of the essential nature of Judaism resists the idea of a
Jewish state with borders, an army, and a measure of temporal power,
no matter how modest. I am afraid of the inner damage Judaism will
sustain -- especially from the development of a narrow nationalism
within our own ranks, against which we have already had to fight
strongly, even without a Jewish state."

"For me the Jewish religion like all others is an incarnation of the
most childish superstitions. And the Jewish people to whom I gladly
belong and with whose mentality I have a deep affinity have no
different quality for me than all other people. As far as my
experience goes, they are no better than other human groups, although
they are protected from the worst cancers by a lack of power.
Otherwise I cannot see anything 'chosen' about them."

EINSTEIN WAS A REALIST ...

"I cannot conceive of a god who rewards and punishes
his creatures or has a will of the kind we experience
in ourselves. Neither can I—nor would I want to—
conceive of an individual that survives his physical
death. Let feeble souls, from fear or absurd egotism,
cherish such thoughts. I am satisfied with the mys-
tery of the eternity of life and a glimpse of the mar-
velous structure of the existing world, together with
the devoted striving to comprehend a portion, be it
ever so tiny, of the Reason that manifests itself in
nature."

Einstein the greatest

Albert Einstein has been voted the greatest physicist of all time in
an end of the millennium poll, pushing Sir Isaac Newton into second place.

The survey was conducted among 100 of today's leading physicists.

"Einstein's special and general theories of relativity completely
overturned previous conceptions of a universal, immutable space and
time, and replaced them with a startling new framework in which space
and time are fluid and malleable," said physicist Brian Greene from
Columbia University, US, who participated in the poll for Physics
World magazine.
