"New Rule... Stop calling it a "perfect storm" when two bad things
happen at the same time. Sometimes it's just some crap happening at
the same time as some other crap. Let's go back to what we used to
call it before that movie about George Clooney and his epic struggle
to kill more tuna: Shit happens."

"And New Rule: I don't care that your phone takes pictures. It's a
phone, not a Swiss Army knife. Great, now the annoying camera buff and
the annoying cell phone prick can merge as one guy. Hey if you can
figure out how to make that "camera phone" play country-western music
real loud, we could call it "a perfect storm of assholes""

Actually it's three storms. Dumbya's recession, cheap communications
which spells the end of the GOP -- the Clintons are merely speeding up
this process --, and, last and least, Dumbya's quagmire.

It's interesting to note that after all the gush hyping by the
jingoistic media ("9/11 changed EEEEVERYthing!") that the "war on
terror" quagmire is dead last in priorities. Maybe the media could
keep the troops there another 8 years by doing another one of their
180s:

Abandon the Repuglicons' tax cuts and support another high tax Clinton
economic boom.

In real life even 2 cyclonal storms wouldn't ever merge at any
strength because they all spin the same direction in each hemisphere.
Also each storm seems to keep the air dry for up to 800 miles away --
the system is much larger than the hurricane itself.

Occasionally you'll get 2 storms in the gulf but they are never both
large and they never really merge.

Many including Rove, Bush and Cheney had great doubts it would work
_intellectually_, but as is often the case, when a way of life is
coming to an end, they knew many couldn't admit it to themselves
_emotionally_.

Instead of adapting they felt like they had to try _something_, in
this case a patriotic quagmire.

One exception is _National Review_ which pointed out last month that
as bad as some Republicans think it is, reality is actually much
worse.

Having delusional folk in control of nukes is extremely dangerous
which is why it was so critically important for Democrats to run
someone for office in 2000.
