Dreaming & Being Awake: How do YOU distinguish the two?

Author: Berkeley Brett

Sometimes one feels *absolutely certain* one is awake, only to wake up
shortly thereafter....

How do YOU distinguish between the dreaming-state and the waking-
state?

(And could you be dreaming right now?)

You cannot really differentiate.
But it is interesting to note here how you can actually disprove the passing
of time in a dream state.
If you set your alarm say at 7 in the morning and then press snooze...

Another question :
Where do the qualia, in a dream or otherwise, come from,
or how are they produced?

That's easy. If I think I am a butterfly, I assume that it is real. If
I think I am a human who has to answer idiotic questions on usenet, I
assume that I am in a CIA black prison subject to various forms of
"not torture" and that when I wake up I will get back to flapping my
wings and dodging birds, bats, and geckos.

Qualia are what are called reality identification - these date way back to
what you may call the beginning of time when you first became aware.
You were able to produce light and colour - using the power...

Simple. You pinch yourself. If it hurts, you're awake.

Now to solve the Jewish, er, the Qualia question. Let's say you look
at something red . Your signal processing system actives a different
pattern of neural firings than, say, if you look at something blue.
When your were reared you were taught to distinguish the two.

I know when I'm having a day/night mare....when Mr` Gordge shows up ;-).

What you are describing are different levels of consciousness at work. All
valid, and the "gaps" between get narrower, hence so much so called psychic
phenomena being experienced.Overlapping of such realities.

I'm absolutelty certain of relative certainties.

Qualia exist purely in your own mind Sir Frederick.
You will find that no one else hears or sees anything.
All there is in fact is this computer - and WE ARE THE COMPUTER.
