The religious newsgroups haven't really seen the level of spam (or
sporge) that some of the other's have. It is becoming necessary to
use a proxy on some groups to filter out the crap. Some professional
groups are all but useless due to the spam floods coming out of
Google. Hong Kong knock offs, drugs, porno, etc..

Unfortunately the only good way, so far, is to filter out all of
Google using a proxy that deletes all posts that are posted via
"Google Groups." This will be the case until Google takes action to
stop the flooders, and they haven't shown any interest in doing so.

The downside is Google Group posters are also invisible.

This is addressed to you Google Groupers (posters who use Google
because they don't know any better).

Google Groups are a sort of ghetto version of Usenet. You think you
are posting comments to a subsidiary of Google - you are not in most
cases - you are posting to User's Network - "Usenet." Google runs its
own little satellite newsgroups as well - to you it looks like one big
happy family.
