I wonder do someone's look influence your perception of their
personality? like, that one is attractive they must be lively, this
one is fat they must have a sense of humor etc.

Not their looks exactly, because that can't be helped (generally). I may
judge someone based on how they dress. For example, I'd have nothing to do
with someone dressed as a gang member. If someone dressed as a hooker, same
idea.

Well, according to folks wisdom, we're not supposed to judge on
appearence yet there's relationships between look and behavior. It was
even found that the less attractive the more likely to commit a crime.
And whether one is the cause or the consequence, there's defnitive
benefits to be attractive and clear disadvantage to be ugly. It is
incorrect to make clear distinction between nature and society. Both
are ultimately different side of the same phenomena.

Well of course we tend to judge on looks but link between criminal
behavior and ugliness?

There is a red form of melanin. And melanin is on the same strand of DNA
as hormones that affect behavior. More melanin, more adrenalin, which
speeds reflexes, but also increases impulsivity. But higher melanin is
found with lower seratonin, which sharpens senses, but makes for
restless sleep, and they wake up grouchy.
So- Redheads really do tend to be more exciting, but also more
challenging and exasperating lovers.
I forget the name, but a Russian geneticist sentenced to Siberian fox
farm noted how hard they were to handle and their violence made scars in
the black fur... still used for Russian hats. So, he began breeding just
the most docile black foxes. And after 12 generations was successful.
I've seen the video. The kits are playful and charming, just like
puppies. the only problem is, they are not all black anymore.
I could discuss black melanin in hominids, but then I'd be called racist.

It'd be hard to argue that being born with pleasing looks _doesn't_ give a
person a leg-up as far as the availablility of social opportunities in life
are concerned.

Of course. There are plenty of psychological studies to back this up,
too.

The Social Animal - Elliot Aronson - 8th Edition 1999
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0716733129/
- people tend to attribute less blame to
physically attractive children, regardless
of the facts.
- sixth graders tended to rate their physically
attractive classmates as being more competent
than their less attractive classmates. Moreover,
in that study, the teachers fell into the same trap.
Speaking of teachers, all other things being equal,
physically attractive teachers may also have an
edge over their less attractive colleagues.
