For all the forum members, I would recommend that you read at
least ONE book: Henry David Thoreaus Essay on Civil Disobedience[/
u]. It will CHANGE the way that you view activism, and society in
general. If your curiousity is peaked by Thoreau, then read
Waldens Pond as well.

I just read the wiki quote...

Really interesting stuff.

I think the main problem with "not paying taxes", is because people
don't want to lose their time in work, or their freedoms for being
abused in jail for not paying taxes. Especially when they are
suffering and the others who believe in his cause, don't.

So what if we addressed this problem directly? Actually formed a sort
of "trade union", an actively promoted organisation where thousands or
hundreds of thousands of people could join, so that they could as one
big group, refuse to pay their taxes?

Can you feel the power of that? Just uttering those words. I KNOW if
such an entity was created, it would totally change politics!

There is such an organization all ready. It is full of Catholic
Priests & nuns. I'm sure they'll let you join. You get to live on real
estate that is tax free too.

You mite even be able to found your own "church" for the purpose,
where the church owns the real estate you live on, the vehicles you
drive, and accepts 501-C3 donations of so much of your cash income
that you dont pay any income taxes. The "congregation" could also
order any consumer goods you wanted from the global economy, delivered
to your door sales tax free. And like the Athenian Deme, could even
own rural land to grow all the food you needed, and supervise that so
it is grown without chemical or biological contamination.

Um ... I think those organisations exist. They're called 'clergies'.

I have that same problem with my 'require all actresses under the age of
50 to pose for official nude photos and bare sole shots' idea.

You know, I *think* they've already made a decision on that one ... Gee,
I wonder which one they chose.
