But they don't base their belief on such misinterpretations - their
beliefs have nothing to do with science nor evidence.

Prey tell (no pun intended) how can the species survive if the
individual
does not?

Because the individual has done something to ensure the survival of
every other individual in the same species. Particularly its own
personal descendents.
In other words, a species is composed of several individuals. If one
particular individual fails to survive, the species still carries on.
