Here's the part that Tiggy doesn't mention, as reported in another
source "There had been doubts as to whether the Air Force, and
Congress, would award such a massive contract to a French firm, but a
thaw in relations following the election of Nicolas Sarkozy may have
eased concerns."

I'm pretty sure that Sarkozy was the guy that those "Clever Frenchie
Socialists" voted AGAINST.

I think you mean better than the American made Northrop KC-30 which is
*based on* the EADS Airbus A-330 - a passenger jet - which simply has
greater carrying capacity.

As for Boeing, it's 787, "has already set a record as the largest
selling commercial aircraft during the period before a first flight,
with 584 firm orders from 45 airlines."

Well, maybe this contract will help France raise their GDP per capita
to something significantly above Louisiana and reduce their
unemployment from over 8%%. It should also help Airbus not to have to
implement a planned workforce reduction of 10,000 workers and perhaps
reduce the massive gov't subsidies (something in the neighborhood of
$100billion) which Airbus has required over the years to stay afloat.

It will likely however not stop them from increasingly outsourcing
production to lower wage countries. They are for example already in
process of building an assembly plant in China.

Here's what Tiggy's fellow socialists think of those supposedly
"Clever Frenchie Socialists" at Airbus, even including their labor
unions.

I'm sure they are happy in Alabama, too, since "Northrop and EADS N.
America project their production workers will earn an average weekly
wage of almost $1,250, more than 50 percent above Alabama's $813
weekly average for manufacturing work." Did Tiggy say something about
"cheap labor in Alabama"?
