And over 360,000 in 2005.

The number of augmentations has rissen since they were begun in
approximately 1950 (very bad direct-injection stuff, glass and plastic
balls, etc, all outlawed in about 1961), and silicone devices introduced in
1962 were outlawed in 1992.

HOW MANY millions, please.

Considering the period up to 1993/92 it apperas to be likely that there were
about 3 million total surgeries, and a total of 5.6 million total. The
silicone devices were tragic malpractices of medicine, technology and
research. The FDA sat on its hands for decates.

But really, how many millions? One in five patients would be one million.
Is the rate (including saline devices) really one-in-five? How many of these
cases were benign implants that hindered the discovery of cancer (obscured
mammograms)? How many were CAUSED by mamograms (a compressive technique.)

FWIW, this topic probably does not belong in this group.
A very good article about the state of the breast augmentation settlements,
and the law at:
http://www.breastimplantinfo.org/pdfs/breast_implant_report.pdf

PS: More MEN die of breast cancer than testicular cancer. (annual death rate
of 470 breast compared to 390 testicular).
