An isolated specimen does not establish a temporal trend.

Unfortunately, comprehensive long-term data sets are not available for
these oceans.
The Central Pacific record (Hawaii and environs), for example, is
sparse (to say it kindly) before 1957:

But take a look at this, based on NOAAs data for over 150 years:
