I watch programs about meteors crashing into the planet erradicating life.
I stand at Yellowstone's Old Faithful and realize I'm upon a plainar
volcanoe the size of Montana that could someday, rearrange the continent and
life as we know it. I observe Hubble deep space photographs of 'thousands'
of galaxies like our own in a mere spec of the visible sky. I learn of the
emensity of just our own Milky Way, where among billions of stars, our own
is just an ordinary run of the mill sun, bound for the graveyard of dark
dwarfs someday. On the crust of this very planet, I look down from 30
thousand feet in airplanes, I cannot see anything alive below, but the
patchwork quilt of color. Even up close and personal, I become just a
number...and a "trial of a file" among billions of individuals not unlike
ants that ramble about. I learn of our genetic intertwining that is
constantly in the motion of selection, but not for sake of valor or virtue,
but simply that a thing can last a bit longer through time, even if it is
wretched and vile. Finally, the last vestige of personal worth is lost in
the guise of nervous pathways and organs that sit inside our craniums.

We are material. We are nothing but rambling tumble weeds upon an open
desert, complex in order, but...nothing nonetheless.

This is the liberal cause whether the liberal understands it or not. The
secular humanistic view rests upon this foundation of 'nothingness',
whereby, the vehicle that we are, spends it's last gestaltive fuel gained
from centuries of 'cause and effect' through a reach for deity...in a great
surge for 'positivity' toward what we are.
Past structures still operate upon our consciousness, like Sartean ruts that
continue to do their magic to evoke care and concern.

Humanism is kind, gentle, caring, rational...and very very 'finite'. Like
an unrenewable energy, it's basic design is of the intellect, and though it
professes a certain spiritual acclaim in human compassion, there is NO
thoughtful foundation by which it can stand for long in that caring and
kindness. It is godless, and the imagination left without cause to
rationalize even the sparest sense of hope.

Humanism MUST eventually decline into mechanical rationality, whereupon, the
elites hold administration over our existence much like farmers over
barnyard animals or beekeepers over their bees. We begin to 'husband'
ourselves under a new tryanny that we cannot even see all that well.

Oh, the elites will profess how so much they care and how compassion and
empathy still guides our vision, but even they but objects of a much greater
force to be molded under the outer construct of 'nothingness' that is the
vestige of absolute materialism.

And the elites will begin to mold us like children playing with rational
clay; and the masses will feel upheaval, chaos and turmoil as natural orders
will be thrown topsy turvy, where what was once 'up' becomes 'down', and
what was once 'down' becomes 'up'. This is the liberal cause in today's
world.

The liberal cares a great deal, much as a rich person can guzzle the last
few gallons of petroleum in the world without concern; for they sit atop
ivory towers away from the masses, untouched by their own designs except as
an encroachment far below. And they do not see the crisis just up the road
when our rationality will come to dead ends, no longer energized by emotion
conculcated through the hope of Deity, but now an emptiness based upon the
stark reality of 'nothingness' as our foundation. Empathy will be first to
go, for no 'survivor' will be able to afford ANY altruistic sense and not
put him/herself up as likely prey for a new rambunctious predator mind that
is surely to devour our consciousness.

Humanity had hope, but homo sapiens without the human spirit is rife with a
visciouness that might be shocking, except that complacency as we go will
slowly adapt our senses to it. We will remain quite intelligent of course,
but more and more beguiling, clever...and distrustful of the next...for that
is where the intelligent man will HAVE to go for sake of absolute
rationality and personal suvival. We will become a sociopathic creature and
any sense of love and it's reason for behavior, lost. Survival is all
personal, political, and selfish. The luckiest will become
machines...brains totally devoided of emotion, and thought reduced to
Spockean mechanics of total reason. This is the Josef Mengele model.

This is the liberal's path in today's world, though they do not see it, for
they are essentially shallow...blind to what they now do. As the gods fail
upon our consciousness, we do not realize they were like dilithium
crystals...and the space vehicle slowly comes to a halt.
