Are Spectator Sports Absurd?

As a society, do we spend too much time, money, and energy watching
guys throw, kick, or knock a ball around?

Or do we not spend ENOUGH time, money, and energy watching guys throw,
kick, or knock a ball around?

I would be interested in reading your opinion.

Thanks in advance....

To the point...

What society?

What is a 'spectator sport'? Since all sports with 'guys' have human
participants, it isn't the sport itself that is spectator by nature.

If "too much" watching is absurd the watching itself is not absurd but
the amount. This brings up the too obvious question of what is "too
much". Money?

A measure.

There are people who "do" things and people sit around watching other
people doing things. Obsessing about sports teams is an ego thing --
glomming on to someone else's success is a way for people to feed
their egos without having to actually *do* anything themselves.

humm maybe. On the other hand it ALSO could be a way to make up for not
being able to do as well or at all yourself.

For myself, I found it intolerable to watch major sports after I stopped
playing (during school years). It became too frustrating to just 'sit
there'. Another type of ego thing perhaps?

Now however I see professional sports mostly as rich people playing other
rich people to make richer people richer.
