Right now, Australia is responsibile for only 1%% of global green house gas
emmissions and land use that effects climate change, yet is one of the most
vulnerable nations to affects of climate change.

7.30 Report - TV Interview
http://www.abc.net.au/news/video/2008/02/21/2169162.htm

Economist Ross Garnaut's study on the effects of climate change has warned
Australia could be the biggest loser among developed nations if nothing is
done to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Suggestions that reductions of 90%% in GHG by 2050 worldwide needed for a
50/50 chance of stopping severe global climate change.

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 1903 - Svante August Arrhenius
"We are evaporating our coal mines into the air." After performing 10,000
equations by hand, Svante Arrhenius calculated that the earth's average
temperature would increase by many degrees if we doubled the amount of CO2
in the atmosphere.

And, note that he was wrong. CO2 has more than doubled,
yet in the last 100 years global average temperatures have
only changed about half a degree Celsius.

Also note that there has been no statistically signficant
warming since 1998.

No that is not correct either. Your thermometre may be broken

PPS ... seriously, if anyone wants to ponder GHG and warming, to do so
without actually takeing a day or two to reas thru the latest IPCC directly,
is doing yourself a disservice.

There's lots there, but it is also reader friendly ... you find out whatever
you want. If a journalist can understand it and report, you are quite
capable of reading it, and drawing your own conclusions too. It's detailed
yes, but it;s simple as well. They "clarify" everything they mean .... don't
listen to the deniers or the media ... make up your own mind, and read the
data and analysis yourself.
