He also said that hate manifests as the will to power, while love manifests
as the will to submission. This is the exact opposite of the belief I held
during the five-month endeavor of continuous activity and good deeds I
called "trying," a time period during which I encountered several acts of
cruelty, including being hit by a car and made to hear a rap song that sang,
"Stop trying," over and over.

Is Wilhelm Stekel trying to tell me that hate = trying, love = not trying?

Why can't *love* manifest itself as the will to power, i.e., the power to do
good deeds?

If you were crying over that then avoid Chuck Pallahniuk's "Haunted".
You need to associate yourself with a group or club which performs
altruistic services to the community, but it's good to keep looking
over your shoulder at the "heart of darkness" even if it's just to
ensure it's not catching up.

There's the love of power and the power of love.

The former leads to the latter, after much scar tissue and gnashing of
teeth :-) (I was just imagining myself on the pillion of DiRossi's
Ducati ;-)
