Last night I watched the Australian ABC's Four Corners programme on
the subject of trafficing in children in China, and the link to the
one child policy.
They focussed on a particular couple who's son had been abducted. The
emotion was the most intense I had ever witnessed. I defy anyone with
a heart not to have been moved by their particular story.
As my 'emotional body' was drawn in, I reasoned "I could help this
particular couple". Its all about money over there, and I sumised I
could start a reward campaign, and 'buy the son back".
When my balance returned, I realized that to do so, would have taken
the commercial benefits of such trafficking to a new level.
A trafficker, who's wife had died, had to sell one of his sons to help
the other to survive. A very simple and "open" peasant, who genuinely
believed that he was assisting both ends of the market, stated that he
did sense it wasn't right to be involved, but he couldnt figure out
why.
His honesty was also very moving.

aah ya big sook! :-))
btw China is the only nation with a one child policy. I'd imagine that if
that was the only nation that faced the issue of child trafficking or
abduction, the programme may have made greater sense and contained an ounce
more wisdom. As it was, it did make my friend quite sad, as she wondered why
such things happen. I thought privately it would be wiser to understand why
she chose to be sad, but I was in an 'hard ass' detached mood at the time
... so i didn't help; or did I?
Happy Daze on Planet Earth.
This morning the big ideas surrounded how to get an iceberg ashore and use
it for filling up the dams for drinking water. Remembering that 5/6ths of an
iceberg are underwater led to the rejection of many options. But the
idea of melting the iceberg from the inside-out whilst pumping out the water
to the shore in pipelines struck me as one of the better ideas I hadn't
heard before.
Mmmmm, I guess we moved on during the night. :-) hehehe
