Dog training, if you ask any pet owner or anyone who is an authority
on dogs, is absolutely essential. The need to train your dog goes far
beyond peeing or pooping in the house. It can mean a matter of life or
death for your beloved canine companion.
Dogs must know to obey their owners. This could mean teaching the dog
to heed both verbal and non-verbal commands for walking, sitting or
eating. The stereotypical image of an animal chasing a mailman may
seem funny until it happens to you.
Dog training begins when they are puppies and will continue throughout
their lives. A pet must be able to rely on its owner for common sense.
Unfortunately there are instances when the human fails.
Dogs that are not acclimated to strangers can endanger not only the
stranger's life but their own as well. Animal...

Hi Everyone,
I have a Jack Russell Dog and hes a Parsons and loves Cats, especially
when he thinks he can eat them. Im pretty sure he looks
at a cat and all he sees is a Big Mac or a Cat Mac Burger!
Anyway we started training him a while back and it was pretty good
until we come across some training videos online and they helped
with some other stuff we tried also.
Those videos are at
http://www.akashop.com/dogtraining
Its not perfect but its better, he no longer tugs his lead or makes a
whinning noise now with cats but he still has that LOOK in his
eye, you know what I mean!

The idea of keeping a pet ferret is gaining more popularity as more
people discover how friendly and curious they can be. As ferrets can
be comfortable around humans, they make good pets. They love to find
hiding places for their tidbits and toys, and this is how they got
their name. They were called 'thieves' or 'furoneum' in Latin,
describing their furtive behavior when storing their possessions.
However, bear in mind that you will need equanimity when trying to
litter train them.
Ferrets were domesticated as few as 2,500 years ago. Ever since that
time, they have considered humans as part of their social group. They
were the favorite pets of the royalty in the Middle Ages for their
friendly nature and unique looks.
Ferrets are part of the weasel family, which can include a lot of
members. The weasel family are mustelids. They have over 65 different
species of cousins in the weasel family, including otters and badgers.
When you look at the ferret, you can see how they are closely related
to these creatures instead of the rodents that they are frequently
compared to. Ferrets come in different shades of brown with black
highlights although they are sleek and have short fur. There are
ferrets which are albinos and they are easily identified by their pink ...

Hi--
I am writing to warn you about the 10 hoove package of "choobles" at
PetSmart.
I have bought the individual hooves in the past with no problem at
all--maybe because I know value when I see it and I always bought the
ones that were heavy for their size. In a package of 10, you really
can't tell much about the weight. When I took them out to give the
treats to my dogs (all 8), the hooves seemed a little light, but I
didn't figure that meant anything except maybe they wouldn't last as long.
This was Friday evening. Saturday morning I heard a shriek from my
Doberman. Went running to him and found him with blood running out of
his mouth and nose. I thought he had injured his nose at first, because
that's where the blood seemed to be coming from (and it was, but it was
his SINUS!). When we put a wadded kitchen towel into his mouth to see
if there was something wrong inside, it came out all bloody.

Arthritis affects not only humans but also animals. Our pets can be
vulnerable to this kind of joint disease and it is imperative that we
recognize symptoms of arthritis so treatment can be administered as
early as possible. So how is this disease manifested?
When your pet, be it a dog or a cat, appears to have difficulty
walking, climbing up the stairs, and would rather stay in one place
than go run and jump, it may have arthritis. Don't immediately
attribute this seeming lethargy to old age, for they may be suffering
inside and might need urgent attention. Pay particular attention when
your pet exhibit difficulty standing up, is limping, and becomes cross
when touched.
There are several kinds of arthritis that can occur in pets. Traumatic
arthritis can occur after an injury to one or more parts of your pet.
This can develop over time and may be manifested in limping and
changes in gait. Your pet may have difficulty catching up with you
during walks and exhibit character changes.
The gait of your pet may also change when it has shoulder
degeneration, caused by infection or injury. This will result in
slowing down of movements and your previously gregarious pet may just
prefer to sit or lie down most of the time.... ...
