Rap sucks! Rap is a niggered out tribute to the timeless art of poetic
expression. It is being hailed by all, from its street practitioners to the
Black Studies professors at our local universities as being something shiny
and brand new. A birth of a new culture they tell us. The 'hip-hop'
generation they tell us.
Rap is a shade between poetry and song, and if you haven't figured that one
out already and chose to view the entire scene as a birth of something
exquisitely new, then you're a grade A moron. The same poetry about daily
struggles as has existed for ages by Dylan Thomas or Robert Frost, is now
translated into a 'streets' theme and is dressed into electronically
produced 'beats'. They call it 'rapping''spitting' and 'flowing' and a
favorite poet is labeled 'the sickest nigga out there' or 'the best rapper
alive' (and not dead). This is all entirely too pathetic.
What pisses me off most about rap (and I neglect calling it music) is that
nobody's trying to recognize it for what it is: the same old rhyming tale
of the human struggle that has sprung up once man could think and write.
Rap is a diversion from whitey's theme and is more like a violent video
game with artistic undertones: who has killed the most niggas or who has
dealt in the cocaine business before 'blowin up in the rap game' the
longest. These wonderful subject matters were all started by talented acts:
NWA (Niggas With Attitude or No Whites Allowed, whichever suits you),
X-Clan, Public Enemy and continued on by more talentless hype such as Talib
Kawli and Dead Prez.
The subject matter of rap rarely diversifies: favorites include the black
struggle (Kanye 'George Bush doesn't care about black people' West)
committing petty crimes and impregnating women all around New York (DMX)
being hailed by oneself as the greatest jack of all trades, ever (Jay Z)
whining about his past (Eminem) and sometimes rappers get weeded and get
'rapper's bloc' starting to rhyme about complete non-sense (Ghostface
Killah). To more clearly illustrate the last and most curious example of
somebody with shit for brains being allowed to release albums I've included
a Ghostface verse:

Now what on God's earth is Ghostface Killah's subject matter? What is his
message? What does he so skillfully rap about? We should give this one out
to our middle school English classes to decide.
IF anything, rap music is holding back the black community. It is a
testament to a life of violence, drug abuse, sexual promiscuity, and
materialism. It involves no musical knowledge or prowess and only the most
minimal amount of creativity. Ninety-nine percent of it is dedicated to the
continual reinvention of the image. It has moved on past the peak of the
gangster stage and is now just pure brain washing and merchandise
promotion. The latter is conveniently concealed behind the subject of an
alienated yoof in a racist society (otherwise known as the richest, most
opportunity laden country in the world). Give me a fucking break. As Chris
Rock once said, "Ain't nobody lactose intolerant in Africa!"
So what if some semi-literate black man made a couple of songs about his
love for Africa or Malcom X, or about how he discovered the purpose of life
anew ("I gotta do this one thing for shawdy/ And that means/No more getting
high, Drinkin 40s" DMX). 2Pac's " The Rose That Grew From Concrete" theme
has been exploited ten times over by money hongrey aspiring rappers. This
doesn't take away from what they play on the traditionally black stations,
as listened to by all inner city niggers, including the children. To
clearly illustrate the silent horror of all this: maybe a month back I was
standing at a light by a local middle school. In front of me crossed a
group of black girls frolicking and hurrying on as little girls do. But
instead of singing sweet childhood songs they were singing in unison,
"Locked Up" by Akon that goes like this:
Locked up, they won't let me out; they won't let me out, locked up.
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
There are countless more examples of the scum labeled as rap 'artists' and
the folly that is rap culture. Just go to a rap concert. Having heard
'throw yo hands up' about ten times by the third song will really make you
long for that Tom Petty show of last year's.
