Graphics card help

My computer has a Foxconn K7S741MG mobo installed which has on board
graphics, namely:

Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) SiS661FX/760/741/M661FX/M760/M741 GUI 2D/3D
Accelerator, which I believe only uaes 32 Mb of memory.

I believe that this is the source of my poor video presentation of TV
programs on BBC IPlayer. The video playback suffers from random, frequent,
momentary freezing, as one often sees from satellite videophones.
I presume that fitting a graphics card with 256 Mb memory or more would
solve this. But my mobo has 2 free PCI expansion slots and 1 8x/ 4x AGP
Slot. I see that graphics cards are available with either AGP or PCI-E at
similar prices, so which would it be best to fit? TIA.

Steady on FN :-)

PCI and PCIe are entirely different so you should stick to an AGP card -
they are going out of fashion (in favour of PCIe) so you may have to
scratch around a bit.

You'd better spend your money quickly then FN :-)

It is confusing, it would have been better for the new standard to have a
completely new name.

PCI devices fit PCI slots, I still have a few and you can still buy them.
They are physically and electrically different from PCIe. My current mobos
have both but the next one will probably be PCIe only. PS/2 mouse and
keyboard connections are disappearing as well which is really bad news for
my 3 x IBM keyboards :-(

Pretty well anything, NIC, Graphics, IDE, SATA, SCSI, USB, Firewire etc.
etc.
I only buy PCIe now though, thinking to the future.
