Tell that to people in Germany. It's not uncommon to see solar panels on
roofs over there used for electricity in the home. Particularly farmers
do it a lot on their barns. It's efficient enough to where the systems
generally tend to generate more energy than they need and excess energy
is then put into the power grid and if at the end of the month more
energy was contributed than consumed, the utility company has to pay them
for it.
