I did an update last night and now yum is returning the message below. I
have done some searching but apparently "yum syntax error" or "yum
traceback" isn't enough to narrow it down by any means.
I don't know if this is significant or now but now upon boot the kernel
reports that it can't map pnp addresses or the like but it doesn't
appear to be in any logs.
Also, after the first reboot the system complained about bonobo failing
for some reason but it hasn't complained on any reboots since.
I tried reinstalling the yum rpm but got nothing different.
Can someone point me to what's going on with it?
Thanks

In order to track some strange system crashes I was recomended the netdump
utility ( http://www.redhat.com/support/wpapers/redhat/netdump/).
I found the netdump-server rpm from my fedora system. But I just cannot lay
my hands on the client for netdump.
I tried yum searches from both my RHEL and FC9 systems but I just cannot
find one. Anybody knows more about this?

I am using php to upload a file to a graphics directory whose linux OWNER =
groupdyhr and GROUP = OWNER = groupdyhr
The error is:
failed to open stream: Permission denied
What do I need to do/change? (Linux/Apache are not my strengths)
Many thanks!

I have RH9 loaded on a box with two disks, what I think is happening is
it can't read one disk while it is booting and I get an endless cycle of
error messages while its trying to boot. I can get to the grub menu ok,
but immediatly after I get a slew of errors such as "EXT3-fs error
(device ide0(3,2)): ext3_get_inode_loc:unable to read inode block" and
then another slew of "INIT: Id "1" respawning to fast: disabled for 5
minutes"
Is there a way to fix this, the command line from grub is limited, and
I'm not sure what to do from there in any case. Not sure if I can find
the install cd, but can I somehow start this system without it so I can
see what the problem is?
thanks in advance..

Gurus,
While I know Linux clients can join a Windows Active Directory domain using
a software called Winbind, can these Linux machines receive any sort of
system policy sent to it by the Active Directory? Policies such as domain
password policies for instance?

I just built and installed iptables from source, and now I want to use
yum to install some other packages that depend on iptables. But yum
doesn't recognize that iptables is already installed, and it's wants
to install over it. Is there a way I can force yum to know it's
already there?
Thanks,
-Brian
