in a few tread I am following /Time to upgrade from 2.6.17-5mdv/
and /RAID Question/ - there are contribution from "Crashdamage" which do
not appear in the header...just wondering if there are more header I am
missing?

Does anyone know a quick way to tell which encoding is used on a VOB file
- PAL or NTSC - from a console?

Avi's are easy:

[paul@lpt-120107 nzb]$ file jfk.avi
jfk.avi: RIFF (little-endian) data, AVI, 640 x 272, 25.00 fps, video:
XviD, audio: Dolby AC3 (5 channels, 48000 Hz)

But VOB produces:

[paul@lpt-120107 VIDEO_TS]$ file VIDEO_TS.VOB
VIDEO_TS.VOB: MPEG sequence,v2, program multiplex

Doesn't give me what I want. However,

[paul@lpt-120107 VIDEO_TS]$ mplayer VTS_01_1.VOB

demux_mpg: 24000/1001fps progressive NTSC content detected, switching
framerate.

That tells me that it's NTSC, but it'd be nice to learn this without
beginning playback.

I have Mandriva 2008 installed and can't get Totem to play MP4/
Quicktime files. Well actually the video will play, but no audio.
MPLAYER will play the files, but the audio and video are out of
sync.

However the same video, if streamed through firefox, plays just
fine(Firefox is using the totem plugin).

Is there a plugin I need for the stand alone TOTEM player?

Where are the currently used DNS servers stored? I know I can get network
card status with ifstatus. How do I get the IP of the list of DNS servers
being used to resolve names currently?
