Multiple IP addresses on single nic

Author: dnoyeB

I am wondering if I can assign a 2nd IP address to my nic. The first is
obtained through DHCP as are the DNS servers.

Is there a GUI way to do this? Is there a config file way to do this?
Will it get overwritten under any circumstance?

Thanks!

  Slow Network

Hello to all
First of all, I am a newbie in Linux, and I just started playing around
with mandriva 2008.1.
The install went on alright, but when I connect to the internet, it
takes ages for the pages to appear. I use Firefox, and it is very
slow(compared to windows XP). I use the same setup for my Ipconfig that
the one I use in windows, but the pages that appear nearly instantanely
in windows are very slow in mandriva. I am on broadband.
Any idea preferably in plain english languages too???
Thank you very much...
PS : I am hoping to get rid of windows eventually, but I need to learn a
lot with linux....

  ktorrent choice of ports

Author: dnoyeB

I have ktorrent running on my server. It is using the port I told it to,
to upload the content. However, its also using other ports and I don't
know why. Nor can I find out where to configure these other ports. Looks
like it uses the port I selected about 50%% of the time, and the other 50%%
it chooses a different port. I have encryption off. I need to control
the ports else this thing will eat up my bandwidth!

Anyone know whats going on!?
