I'm running Mandriva 2007 and hae recently purchased a Samsung Syncmaster
225MS. This monitor does not appear in the hardware list under Configure
Your Monitor. Any recommendations on what the best choice would be?
I'm switching from a Syncmaster 215TW. That one did not appear in the
list either but choosing 210/LXA210T appeared to work. Should I just
stick to the same?

My computer locked up and had to do a hard reboot, afterward
got partial boot, got this error, (Repair Filesystem) 1 #.
Searched web, found some ideas to try but gave up and re-installed
everything, got it up and running for 24 hours then stood up to
get something, stepped on USB cable hanging down, pulled it out
of plug, killed computer, finally got it started, now have same
exact problem again.
Did fdisk -l to get drive info.
/dev/hdb1 Linux system
/dev/hdb2 External
/dev/hdb5 Swap
/dev/hdb6 Linux
Then tried fsck -a /dev/hdb%%1 & fsck -y /dev/hdb%%1 w/ %%1 being
1,2,5,& 6. It fixed somethings on hdb1 but hdb1 still has errors,
hdb2 won't fix, it has errors. hdb5 won't fix, it has errors.
hdb6 says it's clear, but when try to start operating system, it
shows hdb6 has problems.

Can anyone give me some hints and tips for getting some kind of sensible
performance out of this combination, please? At the moment, I tell it to
get new mail, and Kmail basically 'freezes' for about half an hour. It
seems to be SpamAssassin that is slowing everything down, as if I disable
that, getting mail just takes a few minutes.
It would seem, also, that Kmail itself is either poorly multithreaded or not
multithreaded at all, given that the user interfaces freezes in this
manner.
Any ideas welcomed.]

I want to run 2008.1 in dual boot mode with my current 2007.1
installation to allow me time to convert my various configuration and
applications. This will take several days due to a severe shortage of
spare time.
How do I reconcile the two different /boot directories and kernel
images? My current 2007 /boot is on a small partition, but I am running
out of available additional partitions, so I installed the 2008 /boot
onto the same partition as / .
Is this now possible?
Thanks,
JimR

2008.0 x86_64 system, all current updates are installed.
I get a dialog with the below info. Everything else i run seems to be ok
I restarted kde and same result, ran urpmi --auto-update and it ran ok
rebooted and still same result once i started up kde again.
The last thing i changed on my machine was i uninstalled beagle and it had one
dependency that went with it and I just cant remember the name. I reinstalled
beagle (how do i get it to show up in the system tray?) but it dint fix
anything. I tried using strace to narrow down the problem and its last output
was this:
"/usr/sbin/drakvirt" is not executable [Virtualization]
at /usr/sbin/drakconf.real line 1383.
[setting tty state failed in terminal_inferior: Input/output error]
The file its referencing there /usr/sbin/drakvirt doesnt exist.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Eric
The "drakconf.real" program has segfaulted with the following error:
