I installed Debian Etch on a Dell XPS M1530 laptop. It has Intel Core
2 Duo CPU T5750 @ 2.00 GHz, 3 GB Dual channel DDR2 RAM, 256 MB NVIDIA
GeForce 8600M GT video card and 250 GB SATA Hard Disk.

After installation, the X server blinked two times and gave an error
message "X Server Failed. Do you want to see the error report and do
you want to view detailed error report." I saw the details and
couldn't figure anything. How do I make GNOME run on my laptop?

I was unable to find one. I only found Ubuntu package and do not want to
compile from scratch since I have problems:
