Interesting question.
I need to eventually wire in a new camera, but at some point I also
need to wire in some lines for new roof air conditioning.
What I was thinking about doing was making some sort of shielded run
up on the roof somewhere. Maybe make it out of PVC or some sort of
electrical conduit with provisions to run extra cables every so often.
This way I wouldn't have to tear out the interior every time that I
ran new cable or wiring fore and aft.
I suspect that everyone else has the same aluminum walkway on the roof
that we have. There would seem to be space up there to run conduit so
that it's not readily visible nor sitting on top of the aluminum
plate.
Any thoughts?
Good idea, or really bad idea?

I got a funny letter from an old friend in Ohio. She needed advice on
her home 'puter network and her Mercedes runability problems, but we
segway'd into the election in Ohio. So she wrote about 5 paragraphs
explaining her reasoning behind why she was going to vote for Hillary.
Bottom line: She wants 20 minutes of Bill's time, if'n you get my
drift {wink, wink}
But seriously, she has been actively hitting the election rallies for
Hillary, John Edwards, and evidently Obama (I think that she met Mr.
and Mrs. Edwards in another state incidentally). She has been taking
her son to the rallies and actively trying to educate him on the
political process which I thought was way cool.
She works as an administrator in health care and has quite a bit of
praise for all of them, especially Edwards for bringing the physicians
- basically her people -- to task, and I thought that was interesting.
She thinks that Edwards will direct his delegates to vote for Clinton
in exchange for Edwards becoming VP and that will swing the
nomination. Only time will tell, I guess.

Interior ventilation fans
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I want to install some 12 volt vent fans to circulate the interior air
a bit (remember, we are down in Floriduh and HOT is the name of the
game down here!). I would like to find something that is aesthetically
at least halfway attractive, and have been looking for something like
black Hella boat fans.
Alas, those are expensive and get lousy reviews on the boat mailing
lists.
Anyone have any ideas? Black, reliable, and permanently mounted are
what I have in mind.
Thanks!

This is interesting. This is the big crossing at Tijuana south of San
Diego. With a 15 minute wait it will soon be more practical to live in
Northern
Baja and commute across the border (I know folks that do it already
but they
talk about it taking an hour or two to cross and that's silly).
The last time that I crossed there I gave the guy my passport and he
just
read the bar code and motioned for me to go ahead. Simple. So
presumably with
the new laws requiring passports for all border crossers we will see
the
system streamlined.
The next Key West has to be down there somewhere.

Credit where credit is due. I was aware of the Carframo fans, but
unaware that West had them in their catalog and that you could get
them in black.
I have some reservations because the blades don't look like they are
shielded but what-they-heck. The cats have to learn sooner or later,
right?

From a thread called "Why did you buy your Bluebird"
~~~
Strong as an ox, comfortable, excellent tank capacities, and plenty of
generating capacity are the things that come to my mind. But that's
getting ahead of the story.
She Who Must Be Obeyed and I were looking at motorhomes and were
debating about getting one. My impression had always been that all of
the Class C motorhomes that I had seen were overloaded and flimsy, but
that the newer ones build on a small truck chassis like the GMC Kodiak
chassis seemed like they would do the trick.
Alas, those things were expensive enough that they were getting close
to a diesel pusher in price, so we looked at a few diesel pushers. We
almost, and I mean almost, started to buy a slightly used Winnebago
pusher.
We had discussed some of the places that we wanted to see and what we
wanted to do. Mexican travel and disaster relief and other charity
work were high on the list of priorities.
