If there is a right to life, then there must be a right to self-defense, one
which you would deny to millions because of your own prejudices.

What makes you think it doesn't? What special knowledge do you possess that
makes you think otherwise?

About 60%% are handguns. That percentage changes according to the annual
sales, but 60%% is generally accepted.

Mostly, but not exclusively.

Gee, there's another law that the thugs ignore. "Hey, Bubba, should we give
Frankie Boy a trial?" "WTF is a trial, Joey? Just off the sumbitch."

Because it wasn't part of the discussion? FWIW, about 80,000 annually.
Obviously very few (attempted) suicides in that number. Now that includes
those wounded during a DGU, like the punk who was shot in the arm by a store
owner as he fled the scene during a gun battle.

Yeah, they saw A PERCEIVED problem and tried to fix it by throwing money at
it.

The odds of my firearms winding up in the wrong hands are slim and none,
along the lines of taking them from my cold dead hands. (And I not
referring to the government.)

Ah, now we get now to the nitty gritty. It's all about YOU, nothing to do
with crime, murder, accidents, suicides, injuries ... just YOU and YOUR
guns.
My irresponsible behavior? Do you have any proof of any irresponsible
behavior on my part? I'll answer that myself. No, you don't.
Now, since you keep dodging the question, I'll repeat the original question.
You seem to have an attention deficit problem:
Define "proper responsible gun control", preferably something
that doesn't violate the standard interpretation of an individual right to
keep and bear arms.
I know that a straight answer isn't in you, (un)America.
