They nip off flowers around here, too. Rose blossoms and buds (the bush
just produces that many more so we still have enough to enjoy), fuschias (I
moved the pot inside the pool fence), primroses (pink only) and a big pot of
impatients that I also moved away from their access.

Of course. Grass is bland...they love the taste of various sweet treats
they find (when nobody is looking).

Good for the deer, but there are various things that can be put around
growing things that will repel deer, but don't hurt the plants. Some are
home remedies and some can be purchased in garden centers. Red/cayenne
pepper can be sprinkled around. I've heard human hair from the barber shop
works. Certain brands of soap. Anything that smells offensive to the deer
will keep them away. There must be a list online of various things to try
or testimonials of what works.
There is a huge community garden area down the road from me and it's out in
the open, no fencing, and adjacent to where I know many deer reside in the
wooded area. I am curious how many of the vegetables are eaten by the deer
or if there is something unseen to me from the road that repels them.
I have cats that like to nibble grass growing under the rose bushes so I
hesitate to put anything out to discourage the deer from eating the rose
blossoms/buds as it would affect the cats.
