Well, thanks for the update on Gino, Nic.
I wonder, though. As OT postings go, don't you think this one might have
gone over a bit better on, oh... say, alt.music.pinkfloyd or maybe a.m.r or
maybe the Porcupine Tree newsgroup, they might really be wondering about
Gino.
Just a thought,
Chris

They do this thing on weekdays called "Alphabet Soup" in which, for a
hour, they plays songs beginning with a different letter of the
alphabet. It began a few years ago and was inspired by the yearly A to
Z (which they still aren't doing this year and this month's almost
over!)
Since I'm suually working on weekdays I never get to hear this
anymore. I am off today and tomorrow since I'd asked to be off for
the Yes concert that was supposed to be tonight. I don't want to have
to get up early ot go to work at 7AM after being out late, so I took
tomorrow off as well. I'm getting vacation pay for these days however.
I'd asked to be off before I learned fo the tour cancallation.
Anyhow, here's what they are doing today. Today's featured letter is
"O" and guess what one of they songs they've played so far is? Yes,
can you believe....? On what was supposed to be the date of their
Mountain View show.

So Journey (for example) has gone the route of the soundalike and is
having their biggest success in many years. Their record has been very
successful and they have received some very positive performance
reviews.
I think it will be tough to find a guy that really sounds like
Anderson and can stay in good voice for a whole tour. Remember the
reports were that Trevor Horn's voice gave out after awhile on tour
due to stretching to hit those notes.
Another route is the Queen route who hooked up with the great (and un-
Freddy M-like) Paul Rodgers.
I wonder if Yes would be interested in that sort of thing - although
I'm not sure who is available, suitable and would be a good match.
I actually think Steve Perry would be interesting as he could actually
do a nice job on some Yes material. I'm not sure his voice is what it
was, though.
Dennis DeYoung is another lead singer who got the shaft so that could
be interesting, although personally I'm not a huge Styx fan so I don't
know.
Greg Lake seems to be hanging around and there is a fit as far as the
prog thing but he would sound nothing like Anderson. Someone else? ...

I bought this album on vinyl today from a shop for a couple of quid.
I've never heard it before and I have to say I enjoyed it a lot. Very
reminiscent of The Story Of I. The story goes that Relayer had been
mostly recorded when PM joined Yes, but there are flashes of Sound
Chaser in there as well. Also the first track (Papillion) is a full
band version of the piano piece he performed on tour with Yes, as can
be heard in the QPR DVD.

Howdy....it's just me again.
Tomorow Jim and I hit the road to make the trek down to Kingsport TN
to participate in Electro-Music 2008....this will mark my 3rd
performance at this wonderful event!
Electro-Music 2008 is a three day conference/music festival to be held
at the Renaissance Center in Kingsport,Tennessee, August 14 - 16,
2008. The program will include lectures, demos, jam sessions, and
concerts. My performance (accompanied as always by Jim Gully ..boards)
will be on Saturday August 16th at 4:00 pm EST
Three of the songs on my MySpace page were recorded last year at
Electro-Music 2007: Duh Duh Dumber, Maximum Minimal & Act 1a. This
year we plan on debuting some new vocal material as part of our set
and look forward to sharing it with you!
Besides myself there will many other artists performing, jam sessions,
seminars and workshops scheduled throughout the three day
festival....a veritable cornucopia of the electronic music world that
is rapidly becoming the premier event of the EM world.
