Has R.E.M. been around for 25 years? They were pretty much dormant for
the 1st 10, or did they go by another name?

VH should have been inducted in 2002, since the Hall requires the artist put
out their first work 25 years prior to being eligible.

Sabbath should have gotten in in the mid-late 90s. Rush, Thin Lizzy, Deep
Purple and other worthy artists aren't in yet.

You can't tell me the voting isn't fixed, since they would never in a
million years put all of those bands in at once. It has to be politically
correct and induct black (Grandmaster Flash) and female artists (Patty
Smyth, Ronettes) along with rock artists. Look at the past 10 years of
inductees and tell me I'm wrong.

While it's good that VH finally is being recognized, I probably will only
watch if Dave, Ed and Sammy are there together, just for the sheer car-crash
moment of it all.

I remember in 2002, Dave and Sam appeared together on Howard Stern and
the MTV Video Music Awards. Both times, Dave made Sammy look like a
total ass. On Howard Stern, Sammy came off as bitter and insecure,
while Roth came off as relaxed and articulate. At the awards show,
Roth wore these high platforms and made Sammy look like he was 4 feet
tall standing next to him. Roth then asked Sammy, "What's your
favorite Linkin Park song?" and Sammy had no clue who they were. And
then Linkin Park won the award they were presenting. LOL.

I really couldn't care less if Sammy appears at the HOF ceremony or
not. He certainly doesn't deserve to be there, but then again, race
car drivers don't deserve to be in a car crash... but you watch it
anyway.

Van Halen is being inducted prematurely. Technically speaking they are,
but artistically speaking they should not be eligible until 2010.

Their first single, "Radio Free Europe" (the version on Eponymous), was
independently released in 1981. Their first EP for IRS Records,
Chronic Town (which is available on the Dead Letter Office CD), was
released in 1982. I believe that either of those satisfy the
qualifications, but it's obvious the HOF wanted them rushed in.
