I guess good ol' Eddie made some stupid demands either regarding Dave taking
less than an equitable cut of the tour profits as well as relinquishing some
or all his stake in the Van Halen name. Which means Roth ain't gonna do a
Mike and give up whatever his stake is left in the band (as a former member)
was or is for a chance to tour with Van Halen one more time.
The other thing is, the idea of Wolfgang being the bass player has hit a
brick wall with promoters who are unwilling to back the kind of major
megabuck arena tour Ed, Alex and Dave want to do without all 4 original
members causing Roth to possibly back off signing on this mess without Mike
on board.
Either way, it sounds like theres now a wide gap between Dave and Eddie
getting it together to pull off this tour.
The leading rumor now is that the 3 piece version of the band with Eddie,
Alex and Wolfgang may do a theater size US toyur in Summer '07.

If this is true, the Van Halen family band thing will bomb.... It will
bomb worse than Cherone on vocals and that might be the worst bomb in
the history of rock.
So after Ed and Co get their asses handed to them again (this time
bringing his son into the humiliation). and Roth's off on a beach
somewhere or exploring some other unfound misplaced career path: EMT
check, Radio talk show host check, playing carnivals with a bluegrass
VH cover band check, .I'm sure the list goes on.
While all this is happening Sammy Hagar, who already got his Van Halen
reunion, with Mike I might add... Sammy Hagar continues to enjoy life,
touring selling a respectable amount of tickets and keeping the cash
flow coming from other ventures. No wonder Roth fans hate him so much.
He's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but he appears to have been the
sharpest Van Halen member past or present. Either that or he's just a
lucky bastard.

I beggining to think this whole thing is going to colapse once again.
I hope I'm wrong but it seems to be heading that way. Ever since I
heard the Mike was out, or possibly out, it just put a damper on it
from the get go.
What I'm trying to figure out is why the hell would Mike, back in 04,
sign over his rights to the Van Halen catalogue. I'm sure his royalty
check was pretty good each year. He had just as much to do with the
original sound as anyone in my opinion. I don't know. Maybe this
whole thing with getting Dave back and trying to him sign over his
rights as well is just Eddies way to finally getting full control of
the Van Halen name.
It will be interesting to see what the interview in next months Guitar
World will cover. I hope its not just another interview where Eddie
talks about his damn paper route again. Anyone know when that issue
will hit the stands???
Cheers,
Seph

That would have been a good idea if Ed didn't fire the only only guy in
the band who could sing :P Besides, Ed needs a singer as a distraction
from how sloppy a player he is now.
Roth won't have anything to do with this family band version, and he
sure as hell won't sign over his percentage of VH.

Oh good. Ed is singing again. It's always a treat to hear Ed sing.

I guess "Desperate Dave" has enough pride that he doesn't bow down to
Eddie just for the sake of a reunion. And the million+ that Dave got
for the Stern gig (and continues to get from VH record sales) makes it
so that he doesn't need to bow down to Eddie.

With respect - how the fuck do you know? Are you his accountant?
..... the guy reportedly got 2 million bucks at the end of his radio stint.

So Ed is the Yoko of his own band...
Man, I never heard this bit about Mike selling his royalty rights....
What a retard.
Ed's a retard too if he thinks Dave would sell his.
Or, maybe I'm the retard...
