LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Dysfunctional rock band Van Halen was named on
Monday to the next roster of inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame, an accolade that paves the way for an awkward reunion of the
group's warring members.
Rock band R.E.M., pioneering rappers Grandmaster Flash and the Furious
Five, punk poet Patti Smith and 1960s girl group the Ronettes also
made the cut, organisers said.
They will be honoured at a black-tie ceremony in New York on March 12,
the main fund-raiser for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in
Cleveland. Inductees are chosen by music industry insiders from a
short-list of acts who become eligible for consideration 25 years
after their first recording.
Inductees often perform at the ceremony, although last year's event
was marred when Deborah Harry refused to share the stage with some of
her former colleagues in Blondie, and none of the punk rock band the
Sex Pistols bothered to show up.

WTF?!? Why would Sammy feel the need to "honor" Roth when Dave's gonna be
standing right there with Eddie? I'm sure Dave and Eddie could care less
what Sammy wants or will be allowed to say or do *if* he gets to stand up
there with them.

Sammy should have watched his latest DTV freeview concert ... talk about
embarrassing!

I think Sammy would really like for all members to be honored and
behave themselves. Unlike Roth and his fans, I think Sammy is capable
of such a thing. The guy could say 'good morning' and you would melt
down on him. Give it a rest. This 'my dad can beat up your dad' thing
is old Rothians... let it go.

Wide brush there kstarheel. I am a big Roth fan and I want to see all of
members of VH past and present there. We all do not have a huge ego
like Roth.
Hail Hail Rock and Roll kids

It's all perspective. What Hagar's saying isn't egotistic, it's on the
money. We all know what happend last time Eddie and Dave showed up in
front of an audience. Hagar is above it, he's not the one playing road
side carnivals trying to get back with Van Halen for a reunion tour,
he's has no interest in Van Halen anymore.
No one else has this problem. Sam and Dave even held a press conference
together without making a fiasco out of it. Eddie and Sam seem to be
able to do just fine to (except at the end there where Ed let the child
out and threw a guitar across stage, he was having a bad day).
Sam has good reason to be concerend.
All the talk about "honoring Dave" is just the way he talks. He's not
the best with words, what I take from it is that Sam is looking forward
to being able to publicly show is respect for the classic line up, with
words and probably actions. Sam has stated publicly he would love to
see a classic Van Halen reunion, what animosity could he possibly hold
at this point?
Of course Roth fans won't care, because you'll hate Hagar regardless of
what he does or you'll speculate on his motives.

Check out the bitter Hagar fan, LOL!
Sorry, but through the whole tour your angel Sammy had to be seperated from
Ed.
I also like the way the Bros showed up at Mikes b-day party after the show.

For a guy that has sold half as many records and rode Roths coattails, he
should be.

Good on ya Paul. :-)
It's all about the music... at least it should be.

Uhm, I dont know what newsgroup youre reading, but it isnt any Roth fans
dedicating their life trying to convince people Sammy is broke or saying he
is unhappy and playing 'road carnivals'.
And no, just because he has a business (who doesnt these days), were not
'jealous' or 'hate him' for it.
The problem most fans have/had with Hagar was his big mouth and how he was
supposedly more succesful in Vh, when in reality he sold half as many
records and turned them into bubble gum pop band.
Dont expect us to say Sammy was just as succesful or talented or equal in Vh
as Roth was, because he wasnt and never will be.
