Anyone wanna see the true depths of pathetic blind hero worship, go to VH
Links and check out any number of threads regarding Van Halen's nomination
to the Rock n' Roll Hall Of Fame. It's really funny to read and see some of
these people melt down right before your eyes.

VH should have been inducted in 2002, since the Hall requires the artist put
out their first work 25 years prior to being eligible.
Sabbath should have gotten in in the mid-late 90s. Rush, Thin Lizzy, Deep
Purple and other worthy artists aren't in yet.
You can't tell me the voting isn't fixed, since they would never in a
million years put all of those bands in at once. It has to be politically
correct and induct black (Grandmaster Flash) and female artists (Patty
Smyth, Ronettes) along with rock artists. Look at the past 10 years of
inductees and tell me I'm wrong.
While it's good that VH finally is being recognized, I probably will only
watch if Dave, Ed and Sammy are there together, just for the sheer car-crash
moment of it all.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Dysfunctional rock band Van Halen was named on
Monday to the next roster of inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame, an accolade that paves the way for an awkward reunion of the
group's warring members.
Rock band R.E.M., pioneering rappers Grandmaster Flash and the Furious
Five, punk poet Patti Smith and 1960s girl group the Ronettes also
made the cut, organisers said.
They will be honoured at a black-tie ceremony in New York on March 12,
the main fund-raiser for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in
Cleveland. Inductees are chosen by music industry insiders from a
short-list of acts who become eligible for consideration 25 years
after their first recording.
Inductees often perform at the ceremony, although last year's event
was marred when Deborah Harry refused to share the stage with some of
her former colleagues in Blondie, and none of the punk rock band the
Sex Pistols bothered to show up.

Agreed. It could be very interesting.
>(pssstt, btw, I'm a Republican.)
I know (so am I), I figured it was a win-win proposition :)
As far as the bet, let your conscience be your guide.
I won't hold you to it, I'm just glad reasonable heads prevailed at the
Hall.

Although I thought the bet was Hagar getting inducted *onstage* with Eddie
and whoever else he'd allow to stand next to him in front of a podium, I'm
honestly amazed Sammy was included on the band's ballot so I'd be willing to
honor my claim and bet.

Yeah, but the comedy will be the ceremony.
