Van Halen Hot for Rock Hall, R.E.M. Also Tapped by Josh Grossberg
Wed Jan 10, 5:18 PM ET
Los Angeles (E! Online) - Van Halen is preparing for a reunion. Whether they
like it or not.
The notoriously splintered rock band was tapped Monday for induction into
the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, joining alternative rockers R.E.M.,
hit-making girl group the Ronettes, punk poet Patti Smith and
Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, the first rap act to ever make the
cut, in the class of 2007.
Now, we just have to wait and see whether Van Halen can put the animus aside
and show up to collect their plaques and play a set.
Virtuoso guitarist and band cofounder Eddie Van Halen and his
drumming brother, Alex, have been singer-less since the turn of the
millennium. Original flamboyant frontman David Lee Roth was bounced
from the band. His replacement, Sammy Hagar, departed under bad
terms. Bassist Michael Anthony became persona non grata with the
brothers Van Halen since taking up with Hagar.

Roth gets nod as Van Halen frontman
By Lori Qualls, Accent editor
01/10/2007
So, Van Halen is back in the news. I wonder which lead singer will show up
when the band is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 12.
It should be David Lee Roth.
When Roth left Van Halen, I switched the dial from rock to country music
and haven't turned back yet.
Roth is Van Halen, and without him, somebody get me a doctor because I
don't want to hear anything but.
In case you don't recall, Roth left the band as front man in 1985,
basically because he didn't get along with guitarist Eddie Van Halen.
History has shown Roth didn't get the solo career he wanted. And, with Sammy
Hagar and others as lead singer, Van Halen never recovered from life without
Roth.

International rock star is pushing it, more like "known in St. Louis and
Fontucky"

Outside of his two cantinas and promotions, it's virtually nowhere to be
found.

Not With Eddie
By TED E. GRAU
Wednesday, January 10, 2007 - 6:00 pm
On a recent morning, as I was driving my beloved to work in Century City from North Hollywood, we stopped at a gas station on the corner of Coldwater and Ventura to load up on supplies (coffee, smokes, Bratz press-on tattoos, etc.) before heading up the canyon to parts better known and vastly overpriced.
Tapping my toe to the hottest of Hindi hits lilting softly through the burnt-coffee-scented air, I noticed a small commotion at the front of the line. What I saw was a frail, hunched man, with longish...

If they can't get together and play a few songs for one night, what are
the odds against a full tour?

The term "legend" is tossed around very loosely these days.
However, Hagar has built a pretty impressive resume (possibly
unprecedented in the history of Rock):
Platinum success with Montrose.
With Montrose, he released an influential album that is considered by
many to be one of the greatest of all time.
He had multiple Platinum albums as a solo artist.
As a solo artist, he also had multiple tracks (including title tracks)
on multiple Platinum soundtracks.
He had multiple multi-Platinum (as well as #1 albums) with Van Halen.
Rock & Roll Hall Of Famer.
