OT POL - Olbermann calls Bush out

Olbermann: And lastly tonight, a Special Comment, about — lying. While
the leadership in Congress has self-destructed over the revelations of
an unmatched, and unrelieved, march through a cesspool… While the
leadership inside the White House has self-destructed over the
revelations of a book with a glowing red cover…

The President of the United States — unbowed, undeterred, and
unconnected to reality — has continued his extraordinary trek through
our country rooting out the enemies of freedom: The Democrats.

Yesterday at a fundraiser for an Arizona Congressman, Mr. Bush
claimed, quote, "177 of the opposition party said 'You know, we don't
think we ought to be listening to the conversations of terrorists."

The hell they did.

177 Democrats opposed the President's seizure of another part of the
Constitution*.

Not even the White House press office could actually name a single
Democrat who had ever said the government shouldn't be listening to
the conversations of terrorists.

President Bush hears… what he wants.

Wow Diggler, you will never cease to amaze me. This Foley incident is
as newsworthy as the Clinton scandal. The only difference being that
Foley was soliciting minors. It is also interesting that this scandal
is in the heart of the political party that is adamant against equal
rights for homosexual individuals.

Also, Olbermann works for MSNBC. That sounds like an "alphabet
network" to me.

Only difference?

Let's see.

President - The ONLY President - accused of adultery & asking Paula to "kiss
it" - denies denies denies - gets sued - denies denies denies & wags wags
wags finger - lies under oath - denies denies denies - DNA on the dress -
gets caught and now he must confess after months and months of denying
denying denying - impeached & disbarred

Foley - one of 535 Congresspeople - writes some questionable e-mails to
underaged page or two or three - nothing sexual - overly friendly - parents
complain and he stops - more info comes out - bad things - way over the
line - not good - gets caught and admits he did them - resigns immediately

Which poll is that? Not this recent Gallup poll published on USA Today
Monday:
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2006-10-09-poll_x.htm

It's the story that says "WASHINGTON - A Capitol Hill sex scandal has
reinforced public doubts about Republican leadership and pushed
Democrats to a huge lead in the race for control of Congress four weeks
before Election Day, the latest USA TODAY/Gallup Poll shows.

Democrats had a 23-point lead over Republicans in every group of people
questioned - likely voters, registered voters and adults - on which
party's House candidate would get their vote. That's double the lead
Republicans had a month before they seized control of Congress in 1994
and the Democrats' largest advantage among registered voters since
1978.

I remember it clearly. I live in Texas and Wayne Slater, Austin
Bureau Chief of the Dallas Morning News, broke the story.

It was the lie that was the bombshell, not the dwi. I know facts are
not relevant in your world, but here they are:

Here are the key facts. In 1998, Wayne Slater, the Dallas Morning News
Austin bureau chief, asked Bush whether he had been arrested after
1968. This was a logical question because the National Guard
application Bush filed in 1968 was the last form on which he was known
to have disclosed his previous arrests. A November 1999 New Republic
profile of Bush communications director Karen Hughes described
Slater's account of the 1998 interview this way:
