New Monkees book in the works

Author:
Date: May 13, 2010 15:25

From the Monkeeland website:

Hello Monkeelanders, I just wanted to let you know my book "Monkee
Business" is coming out this summer. The exact publishing date has yet
to be set but I will follow up soon with more details. The book is a
complete re-write and update of "The Monkees Tale." I really worked
hard to create a comprehensive view of the guys from their auditions in
1965 all the way up to 2010. There's plenty of new material and cool
photos. Thank you for your interest and I hope to see you at the launch
party (details to be announced but I'm hoping to put together something
special).
Best wishes, Eric Lefcowitz

Bet that won't last either.

Shouldn't that be "trained Monkee on a leash" :-)

I won't name names (well I might) but someone just sent me this funny and I
had to share
it with you. There is a certain Yahoo group run by someone we all used to
know. Her subject title on it today was....

"micky perforking at sea world in florida-orlando sentinenial"

It just got my funny-bone so much I wanted to share.

It would just be the Wenner crowd, and I'm not sure how many members
of that bloc are solidly behind Wenner in his reasoning. The crazy,
weird thing about Rolling Stone is the magazine wasn't even in
business when the Monkees made their debut. I'm not sure they were
even around when the brouhaha about the Monkees not playing on their
recordings flared up. But, as there is this perception that Rolling
Stone jumped on the "Monkees not playing their instruments" bandwagon
and that they own the argument, I wonder if Wenner's pettiness stems
from the fact his magazine wasn't around when the story broke yet they
still get the lion's share of the blame?

  Monkee In The Countryside

Author: The

This article surfaced online after many years in print only, so I
thought I'd post it here:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mike Nesmith: Monkee in the Countryside
John Tobler, Melody Maker, 26 January 1974

"Do me the gracious favour of not pointing me out as the most
talented Monkee "

MIKE NESMITH was the mean Monkee. The moody Monkee. And, in a group
not noted for its, contribution to rock and roll, he was also the
musical Monkee.
America's hugely successful, and wholly manufactured...
