Hi Guy's,
Had a short round the block on the new baby Monster, and it is sure
different to the old 620 one that I had a while ago.
Mainly in the riding seat / handlebar relationship.
It could be described a sportsbike starter bike as the bars are very low,
and a lot of pressure on the "family jewels", just like the 848 / 1078 etc..
The rear part of the seat was very comfortable, shaped like a Cruiser's
saddle should.
I thought the bars could have been 25 to 40 mm higher, to take the pressure
of the wrists as well.
The motor was very smooth above 4000rpm, and reasonable below that figure.
The clutch took up at the extreme of the release of the lever, and to stop
stalling it a few rev's were needed, and the front goes light.
It would be a Mono champion without a careful attention as it is very
torquey.
The rear shock needed more preload to suit my weight, as sharp bumps, were
felt as though the shocky was bottoming out, but this was not so, it is a
reflection on the damping in my opinion. The front was fine as is.

I have a 1982 Pantah 600 with a hydraulic clutch that is only barely
engaging at full release. It drives, but if I wring its neck, I can
get some clutch slip. Is there any adjustment for the slave piston,
and if so, is there any external access, or do I have to remove that
right side cover and restack the plates? I've got a 4-language 600SL
service manual, but it does not seem to address this issue at all
(though it does explain how to adjust the clutch lever lash). Thanks.

For anyone in or near NJ, The Ride 2008 is less than 24 hours away!
Are you ready?
The weather is looking perfect with just a slight chance of some afternoon
showers... If anything, it is looking a little bit *HOT* and sunny for the
event!
All locations other than while you are on the road should have the AC
CRANKED and the COLD DRINKS flowing!

Motorcycle Event in NJ (26th and 27th)
Less than a week from right now, The Ride 2008 is taking place in West
Orange, NJ (07052)
The Ride 2008 is raising funds for a youth program that does mentoring,
outreach and missions on a large scale for the area. The kids can use all
the help we can give them so after 18 years of volunteering for the
organization, I've decided to turn our yearly ride into an event to benefit
them directly.

with the BOX/Speaker intact/working........

"Ducati designs motorcycles with racing in mind, so power, light
weight and agile handling tend to crowd out characteristics like
comfort.
"As a result, some models have seemed more like torture racks, suited
for only the most dedicated, physically fit and perhaps masochistic
riders. But the new Ducati 848 is different..."

At last. http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=3711
New battery went in no probs, fired up OK. Ton of smoke, some coming from
the joins in the exhaust :-o
Need to give it a run to blow the cobwebs off, etc., but the wife works
weekends so I'm kinda stuck indoors with the kids.
Will have to wait until Monday to go to work on it and hope I don't get
pulled over for the exhaust, not that a blown exhaust makes much of a
difference to the noise :-)
