  thank you Buell rider

Hi,
a short story - heading out to car wash to clean up my bike after recent
trip. After about a mile the bike suddenly refuses to serve me and
engine stops. I pull over to the sidewalk. Ok - my bad - 15 minutes
before popped a tank and when putting it back together forgot to open
the fuel valve back.

Now I am on the sidewalk of not that busy but major street. I try to use
the standard tool set to unscrew the one bolt - but unfortunately the
allen key of the size I need is not there. btw what a crappy quality of
the tools Yamaha provides.

I did not wave for a help but first Hardley and next GoldWound pass by
only throwing a look on my naked crotch rocket. Did not even slow down.

Finally a Silverado track stops and the driver is asking if I am okay -
I say that I am not and explain what happened and that would like to ask
for a short ride to my house to pick some wrenches. He agreed and in 15
minutes I was back on two wheels. It turned out that he used to ride a
small Buell XB9something for 5 years which had to sell later and is
planning to get another bike. Thank you a lot, Buell rider. Shame on
Hardley/GoldWound ones.

Ducuti 848 vs Buell 1125R; June Cycle World

Author: Bob Nixon
Date: May 23, 2008 22:39

I got my June Cycle World subscription last week in the mail (X-MAS
present) and for some reason they pitted the two bikes in my subject
lines together. No surprise, the Buell won out but not by as much as
you'd think. What they should have done is compared the Ducati 848
with is the Triumph 675 Daytona ,R6 & other 600'SS's. Although the
Ducati may pull the 600's out of corners it's about 50lbs heavier than
the 600's and has indentical top speed and 1/4 mile times as the 675 &
R6. Also, it's my opinion, (know 4 people with 675's, two are track
bikes) that the midrange is probavly pretty much equal between the
twin and triple. YMMV,

Bob Nixon..

Gen I sv650 vs Gen II

Author: TroytheTroll

So I took Bobs sv650 for a spin while wandering around Tortilla Flats
this past weekend, and have been riding mine the last couple of days.

For starters, the Gen I looks better than the Gen II, I like the
softer shape of things rather than the more angular look of the Gen
II. For all of that though, Bobs looks pretty good in red with the red
pipe. Sounds better than mine as well, not too loud, pops nicely under
overrun.

The rear suspension on Bobs Gen II is much better OEM than the Gen I,
I wouldn't have replaced the rear shock on mine if it was as good as
his, right outta the box. The front on his was okay, I think. It
seemed to compress more than a little under my ground hugging weight,
and then wasn't particularly compliant once I'd squashed it. For all
of the 30 miles I rode the Gen I with stock springs, that seems like
what I remember about it as well, except worse. Bobs still had enough
travel to be useful though, the Gen I was bad enough to go into the
weeds as soon as I bought it.

The vibes are about the same, low down it seems like my Gen I makes
less, high up the Gen II makes less, neither bike makes bad vibes, or
strong ones.
