How to Give a Cat Medicine ????

Author: anxietypanic08
Date: May 29, 2008 09:13

http://cat-health.fantastic-galleries.net,There is really no easy way
to administer medicines to your cat. Cats are quick, and can easily
slip away from you, and hide. Try various methods, until you find one
that works for you and depending on the size of your cat.

1. Prepare the medicine you have to administer and place on top of a
paper towel, on the top of the kitchen counter so that you can grab it
quickly as soon as the cat's mouth opens.

2. Lift the cat and hold around with one arm, while using your hand
to open their mouth. The trick to open their mouth easily, is to use
your thumb and middle finger, and press into the corner of their
mouth. They instantly open their mouth, enabling you to give the cat
the medication.

* DO NOT squirt liquid medication into the cat's throat or tongue.
Liquids are likely to go down a cat's windpipe, making the cat choke.
For liquid medications, insert the dropper between the cat's cheek and
teeth. Then, stroke the cat's throat or blow sharply on its nose to
encourage the cat to swallow.

I am curious to know what is happening out there in other veterinary
clinics than our cat's. When it is time for a simple invasive
procedure to be done in your clinic, such as a blood draw, or a
bladder puncture, are cat owners/parents permitted in the room with
the cat or is the pet taken away by the staff and brought back to you
later. Have any of you been denied your request to be in the room
with a particularly sensitive cat?

Thanks in advance

The exposure to toxic chemicals interrupts normal bodily function.
Pharmaceuticals, herbicides, pesticides, hormones, antibodies, heavy
metals, pollution, preservatives, dyes, fillers, cleaners,
disinfectants and processed foods represent only a small percentage of
toxic substances we are exposed to on an hourly basis. Lose weight
permanently while maintaining muscle. Prepare your own healthy Raw
Food dishes. Part of healing is taking responsibility for your own
health. Food is the primary fuel for the human engine. Choose foods
that are organic, whole, fresh, non-processed and optimal for the
human body. Learn about how to provide your body with optimal

Hi there -

I have a male cat who is 2 years old. On Sunday, I noticed he was
sleeping more than usual so I took him to the vet on Tuesday when
there was no change.

We found out he lost 2 pounds sine March and was dehydrated. So we ran
all the blood tests, Feline Aids and Leukimia, as well as an Xray. He
had 102 temp and a slightly enlarged kidney but the vet said there was
nothing in the bloodwork to say he was having a problem. There was no
fluid in the lungs so we left with an Apetite stimulant.

It's Thursday now and he has NO energy. He is eating and drinking but
something is def wrong. He urinated once today but have not seen any
bowel movements.

Anyone had any idea what this sounds like? I have been researching
everything from Kidney failure to Poison to Depression. Please help!
He's my angel!

Thanks!

Male neutered cat 10 year old. years of sneezing with serous
discharge.
nasal swabs are negative for calci, herpes and chlamydia

Biopsy punch of tumor on nose of about 6 months duration : scc either
prestage or stage I

Vet is unsure whether xrays of head which show "calcification"
indicate a neoplastic process

Small free floating 1 mm nodule was found in back quarters

What indications on skull image films are indicative of cancer of the
nasal passages? What should I look for in the pathologist report to
determine the extent and rate of growth of the cancer?

How to most economically determine if cancer has spread to nasal
passages. what is the average length of life of a cat with a scc nasal
tumor that seems to be slowly evolving?

Any vets out there to help? Thank you.
