  Question about Quantum Mechanics

Author: Vincent Petruccelli
Date: Aug 18, 2008 16:09

Dear All,

I realise that quantum mechanics is (strictly speaking) a branch of physics,
but it is very mathematical in its formalism, so, in a sense, it is also a
branch of applied mathematics. I was wondering about the energy operator
which is defined as:

E = (ih/2*pi) d/dt

Is this operator Hermitian (and I suspect it is)? If so, how can one prove
it is Hermitian?

Thanks for any consideration of this question.

  trial

Author: Jon G.

I think the perpetrators of the disappearance of Cynthia Jane Anderson need
to be brought to trial, and if found guilty, pay retribution and do prison
time.

About Carolyn, I don't care if I'm in love with the cunt. I think she
should pay, too, money and prison time.

This all goes to show that high society isn't above the law. It's a free
country, but nobody is entitled to stalk the populations and kill people
with that freedom.

I say BUST THEM. Carolyn and everyone else involved. If you need my
testimony, subpoena me. Otherwise I'll be dredging up more details for the
trial.

Far from it. Her father and husband will risk all to protect her, at any
cost. She's just a joy-riding free spirit, isn't she?

She owes all her warts to her father and husband... and all her beauties to
me. Now isn't that fair?

Is a^-2 in simplest form? (Hoist on my own petard!)

Author: Kenny
Date: Aug 16, 2008 18:29

The problem was a^4*a^-6, I said a^-2, my software
(http://www.theoryyalgebra.com/) said it was not simplest form, but
1/a^2 was.

Who is right?!!!

Mind you the target is an educational setting, if that matters.

I think my software is right, but I started to wonder.

cheers, kenny

  GPS Math

Author: Jon G.
Date: Aug 16, 2008 09:58

GPS triangulation requires 3 satellite signals with time stamps to be
received by the handheld GPS device to calculate its coordinates.

http://mypeoplepc.com/members/jon8338/math/id8.html

The time stamps allow the calculation of the 3 distances, which become a
problem of calculating the intersection of 3 spheres with radii of the 3
distances.

http://premium.hotlinkfiles.com/files/1239353_d2uvp/GPS_math.xls

That is how it's done. The first reception synchronizes the clock, the time
differences are calculated and the distances obtained. The rest is just
math.

Earlier versions involved shore-to-ship radio transmissions and the
intersections of parabolic forms.

More evidence of math-science reform bust

Author: Dom
Date: Aug 13, 2008 20:54

1. Since 1989, hundreds of millions of dollars have been awarded--by
the National Science Foundation, the ExxonMobil Foundation, and other
Foundations--for "math-science reform." This money has gone to
assorted pseudo-educators who have been promoting all sorts of
rubbish. Why didn't David E. Henderson expose this fact?

2. While Kevin B. Sullivan was a state senator, he served on various
education committees. He was also on the Board of Directors of the
Connecticut Academy for Mathematics and Science Education and of the
CBIA/Math Connections group. These outfits have received tens of
millions of dollars from the National Science Foundation--money that
has been used to further the pseudo-education of students.

Moss's magic moment goes unwatched

The "Go Moss!" T-shirts were on and the walls were decked with
balloons, but just as Moss Burmester's family in Tauranga prepared to
watch his bid for Olympic glory, the telly went blank. -

Dear editor dompost

kim, a radio journalist, was willing moss burmester on in his 200m
butterfly final at beijing olympics wednesd. [dompost 14 aug 2008,
pg. A1.] New Zealand.
she thought her family's flailing arms were helping his strokes.
too bad! owing to the satellite delay, half-second at speed of light,
their encouraging strokes may have only been out of sync, out of
phase, fighting against his legs, turning gold into lead alchemy.

was Mr moss robbed of massive prayer support and urgent noises from
new zealanders, who were only shown a black tvnz screen?. TV switch
failure.
