What's better than the I-Phone?

Only thing you can think of is a free phone, you don't have to pay
for. Right before the I-Phone came out my girlfriend stole my cell
phone and racked up a $200 bill calling all over the country and
downloading custom ringtone's & backgrounds. My phone was the worst
model cingular sells, and it was held together with scotch tape.
After she stole it I had the phone disconnected, but cingular had a
customer representation problem & turned the phone back on. So I went
for a month without my cell phone, and when I got the bill, I just had
to call the company up and complain. They sent me a free phone that
is really nice, and hi-tech, and they took off the bill from my
charges.

I'm reading about the I-Phone online, and apparently hackers have
found a way to tamper with the phone so it works with other providers
than AT&T. Anyone explain to me, why they are doing this? I love
AT&T. Seems like a more interesting hack to figure out is how you can
get free cell phone service, and a free phone to begin with.

Oh come on, don't pick on Corey, he has never been
nasty to anyone here that I know of and he doesn't
include a whole page of codswallop with every post.

They did it to elimnate the tie to AT&T. If you wanted an iphone
you had to go with AT&T. So this method allows users to go with
other carriers. (From what i understand only Tmobile is compatible
besides AT&t.) It won't work on Verizon or Sprint. Something
about an incompatible network.

BTW, I hate AT&T. I'm a cingular customer, i've made a
policy over the years to avoid AT&T after many
bad experiences with them.

I particularly hated AT&T when I had them for long distance,
cable.

To clarify the hack to remove the tie to AT&T seems to be perfectly
legal.
