I just won an auction on e-bay for the new playstation, and am paying
$1,500 for it. That's over double what it costs if I had the chance to
buy it in stores today. But at least the shipper is sending it to me
on overnight delivery, and I will be able to give it to my best friend
this week as a thanksgiving + holiday christmas present. I just know
he will be over joyed. And I can rest assured I will be granted
entrance into heaven for this good deed. My conscience is cleared now,
after this!!!
I honestly don't even know what these things do. I don't play video
games. But it also has a Blu-Ray High Definition DVD player with
stereo surround sound capabilities. And I've always wanted my own TV.

Personally i'm going to wait until a a year or two from now to
see
1. if the computer/software are still around. at $500-$600
i'm seeing orphan computer.
2. Sony handled the whole situation very badly. A number
of stores around here had violence related to the sale of
the console.

You are aware the Playstation 3 is a game console, not a TV?

Personally at that price i'll wait for the price to come down, the
bugs to be eradicated from the system, and for new games to
appear.
(When the Playstation 2 hit it took more than a year for the
bulk of games to really hit the shelves at the local stores.)
There already is a major bug......the older games that the Playstation
3 is supposed to play.....aren't working right.

Saw people in tents outside of a Circuit City last night on TV, waiting
for them to go on sale. Insane.
And people call *me* nuts cuz I worry about where my gargoyle is sitting.

Sony promises to ship 600,000 prior to christmas. Personally i'll
wait for the price to come way down, the bugs to be extreminated,
and for Sony to prove to me the games and the platform will be around
in a year.
I'm not spending $600 for an orphan computer.
