There are a lot of people out there who charge a lot of money for this
but I am going to break it down for you and tell you why you should
consider where you live right now. Most people who consider themselves
experts in FengShue don't even know about this.

My play on the words for interior decoration and ergonomic harmony is
meant to be a joke. But there is no joke about keeping where you spend
a lot of time a most harmonious, healing, and restful place. These are
a few things you may not have thought of when buying things for your
living space.

Ergonomics
When you sit down you should always consider keeping your back and your
neck as straight as possible. This means keeping your monitor at eye
level and your keyboard at elbow level.
Since I sit on a sofa-bed I have chosen
a three drawer bedside chest (color: dark-brown finish)

Living Space
If you live in a small place don't clutter things up. Every item in
your place should serve multiple
functions.
The three drawer bedside chest is not only my computer and monitor

Matching Color and Style
The color of the wood of your furniture should match. (metal furniture
is too ugly for me)
For this reason the wood frames for my pictures and diplomas are all
dark-brown finish.
The color of the fabric in your space should match. (I have chosen
Chenille Wine - It is microfiber suede-like so it is very soft and also
washable)
I have an Adonis Queen-size Venice hardwood futon sofa bed so the
duvet is something I can wash and match with curtains, ties, and
valences.
Why match? Because too many colors that don't match well create a sense
of subconscious chaos. You don't need that after a challenging day.

Comfort
The futon mattress where I sit at the computer and sleep is an Adonis
Dream-Cloud comfortable thing to rest on. Perhaps the most comfortable
cushion in the world.

Keep it Clean
Mites, dirt, and other things get into fabric, on furniture and in
mattresses.
I have a spill tight slip cover on the futon so I can eat food and
drink on the sofa-bed. The duvet cover can be removed and washed, so I
don't care if you spill beer on it. One thing I learned early on is
that a cheap futon gripper pad placed under the futon and over the
futon frame is a good solution to keep the mattress from slipping down
and looking ugly.

Control Temperature and Light
I have two Bellacor black floor lamps with a remote controlled dimmer.
The bulbs are full-spectrum lights good for the two rubber plants which
aid in air quality.
I suggest a portable air conditioner with a hose and a bucket.
10,000btu's should be enough to regulate the environment of your main
room. The air conditioner should have a heater, cooler, with
dehumidifying and humidifying capability. The filters should be easy to
clean and hopefully not needing replacements often. A good regulator
also has a good temperature reader. Clean the filters as directed by
the manufacturer and empty the water bucket every day.

Other Tips
Glass furniture is never a good idea.
Furniture with round edges are preferred as they are children and drunk
person safe.
Dust and vacuum once a week.
