My Magic Mirror.

I ordered a two way looking glass off of e-bay. The thing is
manufactured very excellently. The mirror is made on plexiglass so it
can't easily brake, and is really large. The quality of the mirror
is just as good as any you would by at a home improvement store, when
it is put on a dark black background. When light shines through the
back of the mirror, it is as clear as the cleanest window. The thing
is lovely!

I've taken the tight box the mirror came with, and spray painted the
wide side of it black. I'm going to attatch the mirror to the box,
and hang the box up on my wall. Obviously though I am going to cut a
hole into the side of the box the mirror hangs on, and put artwork
inside the box. When the box is closed up, you won't be able to see
anything inside of it, and it will be a perfect mirror.

But this isn't where it is going to end. I'm going to put a switch
with a light on the inside of the box. So I will be able to turn on
and off the two way mirror. When the light is turned on, your
reflection will fade away, and you can see artwork on the inside of
the mirror.

I've decided on a golden buddha, just to remind me that reality is an
illusion, and what I should really be seeing in the reflection is the
buddha. Mystics say that all the world is illusion except for God.

Yeah I saw the prestige, it was awsome.. But not as awsome as what I
just made. I did something even better than putting a poster on the
inside of my mirror box. I put another mirror on the inside, and
painted the inside of the cardboard black. Then I put silver sheets
around the perimeter of the hole I cut into the center of the box.

This creates the illusion of silver holographic staircases moving up
into eternity when I turn the machine on. When it is off it is a
perfect mirror.. But because I put a second mirror inside the first
half silvered mirror box, it never loses that aspect either. It
creates the illusion of a hologram going into eternity inside of the
mirror. My mother LOVES it!

My mom loves the idea so much she is encouraging me to buy smaller
mirrors to experiment with. We came up with the idea of hanging
colored tissue paper of invisible thread inside of the mirror box, so
it catches both of the mirrors and reflects out into infinity with
them. Putting other art inside of it like that seems really cool.
She says it is so good, after I really figure out what I'm doing she
can find me space in a gallery for my holographic illusions.
