There is a very good book i would like to recommend to you. It is called
"Practice of Magic:An Introductory Guide to the Art" by Draja
Mickaharic. It is published by Weiser, a reputable magic(k) publisher,
and it is available from amazon.com at
http://www.amazon.com/Practice-Magic-Introductory-Guide-Art/dp/0877288070

The title does not fully convey the real meat of the book -- it is a
variety of "sorting hat" (to use the Harry Potter stories as an analogy)
and describes the essential premises, aims, tools, and techniques of
many forms of magic, thus assisting those new to the field to find a
path, group, organization, or solitary path that will best suit both
their desires and their cultural inclinations.

I recommend this book to all who are drawn to the practice of magic but
are not sure which form of magic will best get them to where they are
going.

Cordially,
