"This article deals mainly with unsolved problems in analytic
philosophy. For other schools of philosophy, this concept is not well
defined."

I hope that you can refrain from provoking a police officer to shoot you in

Is there any evidence that they are? I mean besides the occasional wild
speculation?

Do you understand that the process of science is a refinement of old ideas,
not an wholesale rejection of them? Einstein did not toss out Newton's
ideas but elaborated on them to better account for the observations of
extremely tiny, extremely large, and extremely fast phenomena. Lots of
people who have a very shallow view of science are unaware of this
continuity in the evolution of the scientific world view. They, like you,
tend to presume that it's been a series of abrupt, wholesale changes.
