It may have something to do with my pointing out what an ass he's been
making of himself.

Most occultists refuse to be beginners, once they get over their initial
hero worship of whoever first attracted them to the field. Thus, they
reject all the real basics of magick, preferring to fake their way into
being regarded as being powerful and wise, just as they imagined their hero
was. Such people regularly distain "beginner stuff", when, in fact,
"beginner stuff" is exactly what they lack.
Note, for example, how Bassos wants to devise an oath of ethical conduct for
astrologers, predicated on the assumption that astrology actually has
predictive valdity. Yet, he has done no organized work at all to determine
whether that assumption is true and actively ignores the evidence that it
doesn't. Indeed, he not only hasn't done the work but he doesn't even know
how. He wants to blow by the basics and start building a castle in the
clouds.
> Stop acting like a coward and have the courage to admit to yourself that
> you're the beginner.
Not much chance of Bassos doing that in the near term.
